PLAY SYNOPSIS
When teenage Charlotte strikes up an unlikely friendship with Peter, a man with a childlike heart and a broken past, both their worlds begin to change. Together, they launch a lawn-mowing hustle - unaware that their partnership will draw their struggling families together and heal wounds no one talks about. Blending humour, heartbreak, and hope, Wonderwall is a tender story about love, loss, and the beautiful mess of being human.
CHARACTERS NEEDED
CHARLOTTE: (LATE TEEN to EARLY 20s) - We are looking for someone who can pass as a 14-15 year old.
Charlotte is a sharp, outspoken, and fiercely intelligent teenager caught in the crossfire of her parents’ crumbling marriage. Beneath her sarcastic humour and bravado lies a deep fear of instability - of losing her home, her family, and her place in the world. When she meets Peter, the odd, quirky man from the neighbourhood, she sees both an opportunity and an escape. What begins as a ploy to make money mowing lawns becomes a genuine friendship that transforms her understanding of compassion, responsibility, and love.
ANNE: (60s-70s)
Anne is a proud, warm-hearted woman whose sharp wit and independence are slowly being eroded by the onset of dementia. Once the steady centre of her family, she now drifts between clarity and confusion - sometimes living vividly in the present, other times lost in the past. Her love for her adult son is fierce and unyielding; she’s spent decades caring for him after the accident that left him with a brain injury. Now, as her own mind begins to falter, the roles of caregiver and cared-for quietly start to reverse.
SCOTT: (40s-50s)
Scott is a man caught between guilt and denial - charming, self-deprecating, and perpetually on the edge of collapse. Once a dependable husband and father, years of drinking, bad business deals, and self-sabotage have left him estranged from his family. He still loves them deeply, but his attempts to reconnect often make things worse. Beneath the bravado is a man desperate for redemption, afraid he’s run out of chances to earn it.
All other roles have been cast.
REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals will begin in late January 2026, evenings and weekends - approx. 9 hours per week - exact rehearsal schedule to be arranged, based on actor availability.
